COAST GUARD AUXILIARIST RECEIVES MEDAL 50 YEARS AFTER WAR SERVICE

PHILADELPHIA - A member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary received a National Defense Service Medal Wednesday at the Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay facility here.
David Berlin, 78, received the medal more than 50 years after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy.
As his shipmates looked on, Berlin was presented the medal by Capt. David Scott, commander of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, for his service during the Korean War.
Berlin served as an aviation electrician in Navy Squadron VR3 in Patuxent, Md., then in Navy Squadron VR6 of the Military Air Transport Service at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts.
Berlin is a native of Mount Laurel, N.J., and has been serving as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Flotilla 13-3, Fifth District Northern Region, for 24 years.
