TAMPA, FL.  Larry Neu, Commander of Flotilla 74 in Brandon, Florida, expertly fielded questions on a live television segment for local Fox News Channel 13 in May.   The early morning program offered the spot to demonstrate how life jackets should be worn by children and adults, and which jackets are suitable for each. Accompanying Mr. Neu were LTJG LeNell Carson, USCG, Auxiliary Liaison (AUXLO) from Sector St. Petersburg, and her two children, Maurice and Marissa.

The reporter, Anne Dwyer, asked many questions regarding the regulations for wearing life jackets and the requirements for children.  Ms. Dwyer was slightly startled when a Type 5 was deployed to show its full size when inflated.

The children modeled two different jackets that would be comfortable and proper for any child to wear aboard a vessel and on the dock.  Auxiliarist Neu emphasized how important it is to wear the jacket, the mistake of "stowing it under a seat," and how to properly fit each of the life jackets.

After the show the group was asked to do a few "teasers", 30 second spots, for release over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Channel 13 News has graciously invited the Auxiliary back to do another segment on vessel examinations.
