The City of Portsmouth formally greeted ISAR 2006 and its participants with an "all out" parade. The parade was hyped on TV and radio spots, including a visit from local TV personality Joe Flanagan, star of TV’s "Joe’s Jobs." Joe actually visited the ISAR site and handled the SAR Pump on camera. Crawford Street, the main street in Old Town Portsmouth was closed to traffic and a viewing stand was erected for the dignitaries. Vice Mayor Randall joined the Admirals and Commodores who received the salute from the passing bands. The weather was iffy, but as the Mayor said, "Portsmouth won't let it rain on our parade." And it didn't. |
